The wood contains a destroyed German bunker and easily followed remnants of trenches. Care is needed however, after only a few minutes one of our party came face to face with an undetonated and highly corroded Stokes Mortar bomb! After we visited the cemetery opposite - unique on the Somme for containing more German graves than Commonwealth ones!
