After the usual supermarket trip it was off to Thiepval. First stop was at the Ulster Tower to see if we could book ourselves on a tour of the Woods with Teddy the custodian.It turned out we'd just missed the last tour going out. However two of the archaeologists having a cup of tea offered to take us instead - they turned out to be David Kenyon and Steve Roberts both members of "No-mans Land" the group that make the "Trench Detectives" programmes for TV! So we got a personalised tour of the excavated British trenches in Thiepval Woods by the guys who'd dug them and I got my copy of "Ghosts on the Somme" signed by Steve!!
